The Voyage Home wasn't built in a day. I would love to say it was a beautifully organic (and fast growing) little bud that blossomed (quickly) into something incredible. In a way that's true, however it has not always been a smooth and pleasurable journey.
We have always known the corporate 9-5 wasn't for us. For many years we toyed with the idea of starting an online social enterprise - for reasons including general personal fulfilment, being able to make the sea change with our little (and growing) family and an overall want to be more and do more for the people of our planet. We essentially wanting to merge our passion for culture, travel and a slower life with an overarching social conscience for the makers.
But the question was always what do we do and how do we do it?
A lover of travel, culture and global traditions, I stumbled across a few small Indian artisanal groups on social media that ultimately led to us both immediately thinking this could be what we've spoken about for so long. Having travelled throughout my 20s, I knew there was so much beauty out there. We just had to go and get it and bring it home.
Admittedly when we started out, we had no idea just what would be involved in an online interiors business. We had no idea just how much we would learn day after day, the true uniqueness we would find across the world and the friendships we would make.
We are so much more than just a collection of unique and handcrafted online home decor. We go further than that, building strong and economically sustainable partnerships with skilled artisan groups across the world; true fair trade relationships that celebrate traditions, uniqueness and global diversity.
Purchasing from The Voyage Home directly affects each and every one of our Artisan groups, their families, their communities and their livelihoods. The artists are provided with training opportunities, security and most importantly, ongoing employment at meaningful pay.
Thank you so much for following along on our incredible Voyage, you are the reason we’re here and able to see where else this takes us.
